Hiring: we're looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer

About the role

You'll own the design-system and ai-elements layers, working alongside three product engineers and a small design team. It is a role with real surface area: the design system is used by every screen in the product, and the AI layer is the newest and least settled part of it.

We use React 19, TypeScript, Relay, and Tailwind. Background in any subset of those is plenty — we have hired people who had never written a line of Relay and were productive inside a month.

What you will actually work on

In the first six months, roughly:

  • Finishing the compound-component migration across the remaining surfaces.

  • Building the streaming UI primitives for the assistant layer — token rendering, tool call cards, interruption.

  • Owning the accessibility baseline: keyboard paths, focus management, and the audit that keeps them honest.

  • Deciding what goes into the shared library and, more often, what does not.

What we look for

Taste about interfaces, and the patience to argue for it. Comfort working without a spec — most of what you build here starts as a paragraph and a screenshot.

We do not care where you went to school and we do not ask brainteasers. We do care that you can read someone else's code charitably.

How we interview

Four steps, about five hours of your time in total, spread over two weeks:

  • A 30-minute call with the hiring manager, salary band included in the first ten minutes.

  • A paid take-home, or a pairing session if you would rather — your choice, no penalty either way.

  • A technical conversation about the work you submitted.

  • A conversation with two people you would work with daily, about how you like to work.

How to apply

Send a note via the careers page. We read every application, and we reply to every one — including the ones we turn down, within ten days.
