Hello, world
We're thrilled to be opening up our notebook to the world. Expect product updates, behind-the-scenes engineering posts, and the occasional opinion piece.
If you're reading this, you're part of a small early audience — we'd love your feedback as the blog finds its voice. The first dozen posts will be rougher than the ones after them, and we'd rather publish them than wait for a style guide nobody asked for.
The short version of why we're doing this: we've learned most of what we know from other teams writing down what went wrong. It seems only fair to pay it back.
What to expect
We post roughly twice a month. Long-form essays land on Tuesdays; quick changelog notes land on Fridays. The two are deliberately different formats — one is meant to be read, the other to be scanned.
Broadly, posts fall into four buckets:
Engineering — migrations, performance work, and the architecture decisions behind them.
Product — what shipped, why we built it that way, and what we deliberately left out.
Culture — how we run the company day to day, including the parts that did not work.
Customers — stories from teams using the platform, written with their numbers and their names.
What you will not find here
No launch posts for features that do not exist yet. No benchmarks without the query that produced them. No "we are excited to announce" without something you can actually use at the end of the paragraph.
We will get this wrong sometimes. When we do, tell us in the comments — they are open on every post and we read all of them.
How to follow along
You can subscribe via RSS or the newsletter signup at the bottom of every post. The newsletter is a digest, not a second channel: nothing goes out by email that is not already here.
